Second half goals from Luke Chambers, Guy Moussi and Robert Earnshaw saw Nottingham Forest to a 3-0 victory over the Blues. The first half had been an even affair but Chambers’s fortunate goal just after the break from a contentiously awarded freekick set the home side on their way to a comfortable win.

Boss Roy Keane says Nottingham Forest’s progress from relegation strugglers last year to Championship promotion hopefuls this time around gives hope to other clubs such as Town having less than successful seasons. Forest finished 19th in 2008/09 but currently sit in third position, having been the only serious challengers to Newcastle and West Brom for the automatic promotion places.

McAuley slammed in his second goal in two games in the third minute, Edwards adding the second on 80, two minutes before Rob Hulse pulled one back. Rams midfielder Stephen Pearson was shown a straight red card for foul and abusive language before Wickham sealed the result in injury time.

Town quickly took advantage of Royals skipper Matt Mills’s straight red card for a two-footed tackle on David Norris but couldn’t add to the goals in a second half in which Gylfi Sigurdsson hit a last minute consolation for the visitors.
